Notes:

Many of the early maps were detour maps, used to show motorists the roads that were under construction and issued several times throughout the year. Monthly issued maps from 1935 through the early '40s each have different cover designs.

 

The 1934 A and 1939 A maps were issued for the World's Fairs (Chicago and New York).

 

The 1946 map is titled "A Vacation Guide to West Virginia Featuring the Official 1946 West Virginia Highway Map" It is not yet known whether a separate 1946 official map exists. Similar "Vacation Guides" also exist for other years, which do have a separate official map.
