Notes:

Varieties of the map exist in later years, which have "State Highway Map & Calendar of Events" on the cover. These have the same map on one side as the regular edition, but contain a listing of state events for the year rather than tourism related photos and information on the back side. These are known to exist for at least 1984 and 1985, and probably other years as well.

 

According to a letter from the South Carolina DOT, monthly road status maps were published from 1919 to 1935. In 1920, the first State Highway Department tourist map was published. The second tourist map was published in 1935. From 1937 to 1939, they report that a private company produced maps under contract.

 

A "General Highway Map" dated October, 1947 is known to exist. This map is not like the others of that era. It does not have a cover, and is actually much more detailed than the regular official maps. The back side of this map shows 50 city inset maps, and is dated 1948. It is not known if these maps exist for other years, but it seems likely.
